Good Boy: WWGBD?

Brisbane, Queensland. A city known for crazy god damn politicians, great weather and even better bands. Good Boy are one of those bands, and they've been making big waves around the country on the triple j and festival circuit for the better part of three years. Mia Hyde caught up with them ahead of their mysteriously titled 'CRF' Tour which sees 'em dropping into The Aardvark on Friday 05 April.

So, being Brissy people, tell us a bit about the music scene over there. What was it like establishing yourselves in the Brisbane music scene?

The scene is thriving at the moment. It’s also kind of similar to Perth in that it’s a bit incestuous. Everyone generally helps each other out and plays in a bunch of different bands together. It was pretty easy slipping into the scene but we were also pretty lucky picking up good management early so we were quite fortunate in booking shows and meeting other bands in Brisbane.

Have you been to WA before?

We’ve been to WA 4 or 5 times in the past. The coastline on the west side is bloody beautiful.

What are three songs that inspire your sound?

I don’t think I can really answer that question but I’ll just list off some bands. Parquet Quarts, Broken Social Scene, Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Dick Diver.

What's the story/inspiration behind the single 'CRF'?

CRF stands for nothing, not unlike all round unlikeable bloke and pig in a wig, the dishonourable Joe Hockey. This absolute scumbag spends tax payer money on fancy food and plonk. He is a bit of a shit political figure and has little backbone.

Where else would you like to tour outside of Australia?

Japan would be pretty cool. We did New Zealand last year with Hockey Dad which was a bunch of fun. I’ll like to do that again.

Cold or warm Weetbix?

People eat warm weetbix? No thanks.
